PS3 & Wii Failure Rate Less Than 1%

Not to be left out of the conversation, when another EB Games manager was asked if the store warranty was "worth the price", he mentioned that the Nintendo Wii, with hundreds of units sold at their location has had ZERO come back as defective. We can hear Nintendo executives patting themselves on the back right now, no wait that's just thunder.

Not really surprised by this...the PS3 is a well built console, and Nintendo always has top notch products.

Lol, Microsoft just got pwn3d.

Maybe they should have invested in higher build quality before releasing a product.

I guess, though, they got a big share of the market by releasing earlier than Sony and Ninty
sweet........
unlike the xbox 360

30% failure rate for the box that runs 360 degrees..
Not really surprised by this, havent really heard anyone saying their ps3's or their wii's have broken down yet...
lol XBOX 360 ftl. Mine broke already 2.

Well either you're lying (after launch or after buying it?), or you're part of that <1%. If you are actually part of that tiny group of people (there aren't that many PS3s out there), you shouldn't take it personally, and you shouldn't act like you're so important that it's actually a big deal that it was your console which broke...no one said 0%, did they?

If the 360's failure rate was 30% (which I'm doubting...or at least it's some crazy rounding), then the adjusted cost of the Premium is $520...theoretically. I'm going off the idea that M$ probably used cheaper parts and maximized console output in manufacturing to get the price that low.

Pretty sure its higher than that I worked at the walmart here where I worked. We recieved 5 consoles and 3 of them were broke while in store. They all broke while on display and weren't even sold.
Yay, another reason for PS3/Wii fanboys to think that they are better than everybody.

Where they the ones that were encased and had no air? I've seen those too..

Fatal05, you MUST be a fanboy of Microsoft in order to say this even though the 360 has proven itself as a poorly assembled console.

"Yay, another reason for PS3/Wii fanboys to think that they are better than everybody."

If ignorance is bliss you must be the happiest lemming on the planet.

That may have been the problem because 3 at one store is a little odd.

alot of "display" models have failed because of the small enclosed cases they were kept in, with poor circulation and no cool air coming in, it's easy to bake almost any electronic device...

While i agree that 3 at one store is a little odd , its exactly what you said, odd, not the normal trend of the console.

There has been reports where there were batches that were faulty, on GoNintendo.com, they said that most of the staff had to return Wii's because they were faulty, but all of them bought them at the same store...

Very, very true. Recently on a hot day, I caught my CPU at 65C idle. I opened a window, and it dropped to 34C.
It just needed some cool air coming in.

If something is continually recirculating the heat, it heats up over time, since the device keeps outputting more regardless of how much is dissipated...

From all the display consoles I see in stores, they are always beat to crap. I mean buttons missing on controllers...and just utterly abused by all the kids that tinker with them. And as someone said, they're in display cases with hot lights on them. Hardly the typical location for a console I'd say.

You've got us all wrong. We know we're better than you.

Hah, I bet you're right about that actually. I must say tho...My Wii gets really hot when I'm not playing it. I had it laying down on its belly, and even in standby, that little guy gets HOT. I put him back in the stand after I discovered that.

I own each console - I've had the 360 the longest, followed by the PS3 and Wii and I haven't run into a single problem with either of them. It could be because I never use the 360 or Wii though
