Recently built my desktop (haven't used the PSU in about a year since my last desktop build) and didn't notice till last night but it started making a crackling noise that was quiet enough to not catch right away but turned into a faint annoying noise in the background.

The PSU is a Corsair HX850w. The sound only occurs when I load a game but not when web browsing or idling in windows.

Is this something I should be worried about?

Current rig is:

i7 4790k
H80i
16gb G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series
GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5
ASUS R9 390 STRIX
Corsair HX850
2x 840 evo 250gb
3tb WD Green
3x 27" 1080p monitors.

Corsair, although often they price their products higher than the competition, does have a great warranty. The downside for you is that you will have to RMA to the US (expensive shipping), but Corsair is pretty good about honoring their warranties.

I would not risk putting that PSU into any system right now - a bad PSU can fry your parts!
