Hello everyone.

So, I just bought the Corsair TX750 V2 PSU, but I received the V3, made by Chicony Power Technology/HiPro, model number 75-001309, made in 2012.

Some people say it's a good brand, others say it's bad, with junk caps, and there are no reviews of it, at least none I could found.
Also, it has more amparage on the +3.3V, +5V and -12V rails compared to the V2.
V2 has 25A on the +3.3V and the +5V rails, 0.5A on the -12V rail, V3 has 30A on the +3.3V and +5V rail, and 0.8A on the -12V rail.

So my question is, should I keep this PSU, or return it and get my money back to buy another one?

Thanks in advance!

I only buy PSUs that someone reviewed and torture tested. I don't count it as a review unless it was torture tested. In fact 2 of my PSUs where purchased from one of the people who do the torture tests and where the units that where tested.

I am not saying that the PSU you have is a bad PSU I am just saying that unless someone has proven that it is a good PSU I would not keep it. There are all sorts of issues that come up with PSUs. Like the thermal protection not working, or them not putting out the power they are rated at, or not really being 80+ even though they claim it, short protection not working (big deal IMO) and other issues.

So if it was me I would be returning it and looking for a PSU that has been proven to be reliable and safe.

Yeah, me too, that's why I ordered the V2, all reviews says that it's a very good PSU.
But the V2 and V1 have been discontinued AFAIK, Real Hard Tech X says that, so the only choice of a TX PSU would be by HiPro.

Some other guy here on this forum said HiPro is a very good PSU manufacturer, so I don't know.

Don't go off what people say go off of torture test reviews.

Read JohnnyGuru reviews. If he says a unit is good, it is. He's the only PSU reviewer I truly trust.

That who I bought 2 of my units from. You could PM him and see if he has any in your price range that he would ship to you. Nothing like knowing that exact unit pasted his inspection!

I don't live in the US, so that would be impossible for me.
I saw reviews, not opinions, people who tested at low and full load, opened the PSU, checked ripples, etc.

A mod can close this thread now, I'm gonna RMA it for a XFX 750w Pro Core Edition.

Thanks for all the replies!
