First off I know pumps shouldn't be mounted upside down or both inlet and outlet facing downward.

But what if I had the inlet at the top(north) and the outlet facing down (south)? I don't think that air bubbles would be stuck in the pump causing it to be improperly primed. Thoughts?

Pump orientation makes no difference in performance nor longevity.

As long as you have all of the air bled out it should not make a difference...
