Some quick noob questions

I have manually downloaded and updated punk buster. Do I have to run this in the background prior to running the game or is it automatic?

Is punk buster working right now? I mean every server I join says its OFF, even though I filtered the list to show only those with punk buster ON.

PB runs automatically. The issue you're having is not uncommon; my friends and I experience it all the time. We'll set the server browser to filter out any non-PB servers, but it never does.

I have yet to see a server with punk buster ON. I've been playing a while now too.
