A [email protected] beats [email protected] in Dragon Age:Origins.

I'm currently playing Dragon Age:Origins and this has to be one of the best RPG game to come in ages but how the heck is a Q6600 reigning over the PII?

They didn't OC the i5 750 for it?

Disappointing.
Well there really close together but the q6600 is faster clock per clock in this game
Ehh not that surprising...
It is actually very surprising... The performance clock for clock of a Q6600 is about the same as a 9950, a first gen Phenom. If C'n'q wasnt turn off, that MIGHT be a reason. I really have no idea why though. Maybe they are throttling the cpu t 3.95ghz... another explanation

Embarrassing if you ask me
It really just depends on the application. I guess Intel paid the developers to make it optimized for their processors.

Oh, uh yes, this makes sense. Just like how Honda and Toyota paid construction contractors to make the roads optimized for their cars, and not for their US counterparts (Chevy, Chrysler, etc).

Just a specific case where the C2Q wins. Great to see a game take advantage of all those cores though.
Dragon Age doesnt have the WOW factor, feels lackluster in visual details. Yet it is a pretty demanding game. FPS drops considerably when in the center of towns ie: Ostagar my FPS dropped in the 30's when running past certain parts of the town. Same with Denerim.
It all in how the cpus are setup. Just like my score in 3DMark Vantage for my CF 5770 is over 41000.
What's interesting is the stock PII 720 x3 2.8ghz beats a stock Q6600 2.4ghz despite the 1 core handicap (400mhz advantage) but a [email protected] beats everything (PII @ 3.96ghz and 3.4ghz, Q9650, i5) except i7 860 and i7 920 @ 3.5ghz.

Well, they did state that DA:O does not really utilize the 4th core, so it's more like comparing 3 cores of Q6600 to the 3 cores of the PII, where the mhz advantage plays out.

Also, the Q6600 does not beat the i5 750 clock for clock.

Q6600 @ 3.6GHz - 46/72.3
i5 750 @ 2.66GHz - 44/69.9
Q6600 @ 2.4GHz - 31/49.8

i5 2.66GHz is just BARELY behind Q6600 3.6GHz, and far past Q6600 2.4GHz.

It has all setup with memory but one the PhenomII 965. It looks like they used DDR2 not DDR3 and they ran a nb at 2500. 2 factor that a big differencs in performance. They didn't go higher. That is sad.
big deal. it's just intel optimized. you'd see the other way around with re5.
