Hi everyone.

I just overclocked my core 2 quad Q6600 G0 and i didn't get the result i expected. My goal was 3.6 GHz ( 9x 400MHz with 1.45 Vcore) but after 15 min with prime 95 the highest temp was 69 celcius. I put the multi to 8 with 1.35 Vcore. No fail on prime 95 after 12 hours and max temps was 65 celcius. I'm not really happy with it because i lapped the cpu and i just received my Cooler Master Hyper 212+ wth MX-2. I got my HAF 932 for airflow.

My question is: do i need to re-apply the thermal paste or not? is it normal to get theses temps on Q6600 G0?

Thanks for helping me, really appreciate.

I know i can reach 3.6 under 1.5v but the problem is temps... I don't want to go higher than 70 celcius.

I know its stable at 3.6Ghz with 1.45v. i tried it yesterday but i down clocked it because he reached 69 celcius after 15 min on prime95. At 3.2Ghz with 1.35v i get 65 celcius before re-application of paste and HS. Now i got 51-52 celcius MAX.

The question is: Could it stay under 65 celcius at 3.6 GHz? Temps are my problem.... not stability.

And, if it's still too hot at 3.6 , i will try 3.4 ( 9x 378) But now the problem is the memory ratio. At the moment, i'm on 1:1 ( ddr2- 801MHz in BIOS) with 400MHz FSB and CPU-Z show me 400MHz 1:1. I don't really know how to change memory ratio and wich one to choose. My memory is Corsair XMS2 2x2 GB 800 MHz 5-5-5-18 1.80v
Any advice about that?
