Q6600 reading 3.6GHz?

I OC'd my Q6600 to 3.2GHz, seems stable. Ran a couple instances of Prime95 for 24+ hours and IntelBurnTest about 3 times, 10 tests per run, and I didn't get any errors.

Temps are 29C idle, 60C full load. When I start IBT it reads my CPU as 3.6GHz, as does Everest. Also, during ITB my FSB multiplier drops to 6 and clocks at stock 2.4GHz, but I have EIST and C.I.A. 2 disabled in my BIOS (seems to happen randomly throughout the test and only on cores 0 and 1).

Since the temps are within reason it can't be throttling, as I opened Everest's system stability test window and it showed absolutely no throttling the entire time.

Here's a pic of the 3.6GHz readings.

Any ideas why it's showing 3.6GHz and should I be concerned/lower my OC?

Yeah it happens. Vista swears mine is running at 3.6. I think Vantage also rates mine as 3.6. No worries though, your temps are good.

edit: if its throttling I would double check your bios settings to make sure you have disabled the right options.

your using the x8 multi whats why. it will be detected in most programs as if you were using the x9 mutli

yes it's reading that way because of the X8 multiplier.....default multiplier is 9 so the program calculates off of that.....my vista, seven and 3D mark all show 4.05GHz

I see, thank you.

I only seem to get the 2.4GHz clock during IBT. I've monitored it during gaming, Vantage and other benchmarks and it doesn't happen until under load in IBT.
