I don't have any benchmarks but I can tell you the PhII is for sure faster stock, almost certainly faster OCed as well. I saw a review a while ago comparing the 940 to the q9550 and they were about even, and the q9550 is quite a bit better than the q6600.

Yep, Phenom is better, and will OC farther most of the time. Also runs cooler.

About to swap my Q6600+Mobo for Phenom II

PhII 940 beats a Q6600 any day of the week. The Q6600 is still for sale, but the glory days have passed for this CPU, as the new ones don't OC for crap.

Yeah an older Q6600 that OCs well can hang with them a bit, just because they can be overclocked far, but the new ones, no chance.

If you want to talk about the pricing, then the Phenom II 920 is within the range of the Q6600 in terms of pricing.

But any Quad Core Phenom II will smoke the Q6600 in every category.

I found a review, look here for lots of things tested/lots of chips used.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...-940,2114.html

I only took a brief glance, but I found pages 15-24 the most useful/informative.

A comparison between the current top-of-the-line AMD Phenom II X4 940 and the Intel Core i7 shows the Intel processor coming out about 22% faster. On the other hand, in comparison with the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, the same Phenom II CPU finishes about 10% ahead.

Yeah, but it's very much more even in real life apps.

Integer has never been AMD's thing.
