Hello and welcome to another review of computer hardware.
I like Overclock.net very much , because here are a lot of people , who can share some benches with us. And it's really great thing, because often people look for some benches at specialized web sites. I have nothing bad with these sites, but the most objective benches is so called user's benches ) And i want to share with you. So ,we begin.

I had been using Q6600 for 1-2 year. And it served me well, but i decided to upgrade my PC with new platform 2012 and new CPU for 2012 socket. But it's still unannounced and it will be very expensive , damn intel. My Q6600 is weak now GPU like 5870 and so on. I know that now i'm using 5770 , but i plan to upgrade it , so i need a new CPU.

So my Test System is the following

CPU Intel Core 2 Quad 9450 C1 and Intel Core 2 quad 6600 G0
Q9450 2.66Ghz (3.7Ghz OC)
Q6600 2.44Ghz (3.5Ghz OC)
MEM - OCZ 2*2GB 1150mhz 9200 Titanium Series
MOBO - GiGa EP45-DQ6
HDD 1TB Seagate 7200.12
Video 57700 Stock clocks
PSU 750 Chieftec
Case with 2*120mm OUT + 2*120mm IN

So. Let's do some benches

Benches Q6600(3.5ghz) Q9450(3.7Ghz) Q9450 4.0Ghz

FPU Julia 12861 13521 14714
FPU Mandel 6338 6741 7418
FPU SinJulia 3228 3595 3951

Sp, as you can see , the difference in GPU perfomance with new q9450 is hardly see , but in future with more powerful Videocard it will performe much and much better.
If you need to see the performance of Core2Quad 9450 in some other benvchmarks- post here and i will make it.
Take care.

If you computer is used for gaming, you probably wont need to upgrade your CPU for a while. The Q9450 is getting better results not so much from the clock speeds, but the increase in L2 cache size. A 5870 will do great with that Q9450 @ 3.7Ghz.

Also I noticed you're from Ukraine! Your English is very good.

I agree i am willing to bet the difference is due to the 200mhz clock difference and not the cpus themselves

I appreciate all the tests you've ran, but didnt you get taught in school that in an experiment, you must control all variables apart from 1, you need to re run this experiment with 1 variable, the CPUs, you need to control the Clock Speeds both to the same amount as well, 3.5Ghz is good as its probably the max for the Q6600.

The small percentage increases point towards that 200Mhz speed advantage the Q9450 has over the Q6600.

ok. and if i put the results of q9450 with 4 GHz.
Q6600 coludn't get this speed.
My q6600 was stable at 3500mhz
this 9450 at 3.7 for now. i'll try to push it til 4.0ghz

And besides these benches show the performance of q9450.
Ok. i'll put it to 3.5 and do again.
Any other suggestions ?

What version of Everest did you use? I am using 5.02.1750 and my scores were:

CPU Queen 26882
CPU PhotoWorxx 17634
CPU Zlib 98713
CPU AES 27852
FPU Julia 13793
FPU Mandel 6835
FPU SinJulia 3482

This is at 3.7 on a Q6600,I don't understand how you beat some of my scores at a lower speed?

I wanna see same clocks, do it once you catch some free time, but this is cool stuff, knowing that your Q6600 is still capable to finish strong even with the competition.

Test them in games once you have a faster GPU. HD 5770 should not need more then Q6600 no matter that game.
