Hello! I'm new to overclocking and for this site too

My computer:
Intel Core 2 Q9550
Asus GTX 560 Ti CU II <-- just bought
MSI P45 Neo3 MS-7514 Ver 1.0 (need for BIOS update? And if yes wich one is correct one?)
4x Trancsend 2GB 800MHz DDR2
Windows 7 64bit Ultimate

At first I googled what and how everyone else had overclocked their Q9550 and found that 400MHz x 8,5 (~3,4GHz) would be pretty nice. Well cause I'm noob I tried to first raise FSB by 10MHz at time with letting everything else be auto (Memory at 1:1 so 400MHz would be 800MHz).

350MHz working just fine, but allready at 360MHz my system crashes after getting into Windows.

After few tries and wonderin about voltages I got back to google for more information and found few pictures where people had set voltages and DRAM clocks. So I went from the place there was no fence and tried to copy as well as possible, but with that my system didnt boot anymore.

After few more tries with different voltages and settings I got my system to boot and crash on Windows.

Now I have no clue what to do to get it working at 400MHz x8,5 (3,4GHz) so I ended up here asking for pros to help me

Pictures of my BIOS when it crashes on windows:

Only reason why it starts on these is that Multi-step OC Booster so it rises rest of clock on Windows. DRAM clocks goes over my mind and just copyed those settings

So allmighty OC Gods help this newbie!

See if you can find a setting called tRD or Performance Level under Advanced memory settings. If you find it, put it at 10.

Crashed on Windows welcome screen.

Lowered my CPU Voltage to 1.3050 cause found some info that my last was high enough lower CPU:s lifetime. Still sould be more than enough.

Edit: Btw my CPU cooler is same what came with processor, but I dont think that should be any problem?

Try removing 2 RAM sticks, then try 400FSB again. And put that tRAS from 12 to 15. Also keep all tRD's at 10.

Finally it booted up after removing 2x memory chips.
Why I can't get it running with 4 memory chips on 400FSB?

For Eggy88
Running Prime95 now and temp running at 70-75C case closed (Nexus Clodius <3).

Anyway I will start lowering volts to get cooler.

8GB (4x2GB) is many times difficult to use. It put alot more strain on the Northbridge. So you could always try again with 8GB and just try to increase NB volts (Think it is MCH voltage in your board). Do not go over 1.4 Volts for 24/7 use.

Okey, then you should try tRD 11 on all four and try 6-6-6-18 again. CAS 6 needs tRD at 11 in my Asus boards. Probably the same for your MSI board.

No still crashing on boot.

It's getting so late for me and have working with this enough for today so I will go now back to 2 memory chips and settings that worked for them.

Will be back tomorrow with new crashes to get all 4 memory chips working!

Edit: Oh yeh BIG thanks for everything so far

70C with stock cooling @ 1.31v?

I was seeing the same with the Noctua @ 1.34v, and that was with a ambient of 23c in a ATCS 840 fully loaded with fans.

Whats your ambient?

For memory timings set the tras to 15 and trfc to 55. Next I would try the nMCH at 1.3v and try the VTT at about the same 1.3v.

Do some serious stress testing, overclocking with 4 occupied dimms on 775 can be tough.
