So I got a Q9550 from Shifty22123 and I put it in and fired up 2 rounds of Orthos to check temps. Here they are. Too high right? Especially for this voltage.
Edit: Ambient of 68F.
I always get the best installs with my Tuniq Tower by taking out the mobo, but having just got this I was trying to do a quick install and I probably jostled it around too much installing it cause my case is very tight. So much for saving time.:swearing:
Under load at stock with a Tuniq Tower? Is there a fan on that tower or are you running it passive? Something's definitely wrong with your cooling.
Nah, fan is on full. I figured I buggered up the TT install by not taking the mobo out of the case. I have it apart now and will post back when i get it put back together. I think I have the smallest full tower case on the market, cause there's no room in there to get your fingers around the knobs to tighten down the TT. I'm sure I smeared the TIM when installing it.
Well, I got a little better. I think my case is holding me back because there isn't good airflow through it. On the other hand this chip is pretty good. With no tweaking and just a little voltage I was able to get to 4.0. Still need to get it cooler.
First ss is about 5°c cooler than before the reseat.
