Just about to order a q9550 from newegg and looking over some of the reviews and it looks like there still shipping out the old c1 models which from what i hear produce more heat then the e0 models. So can i somehow request for a e0 model or rma it to either intel or newegg for a e0 model?

I just recieved a q9550 from newegg that shipped from the Tenn. warehouse and it is an E0.

With newegg it is a crap shoot, but the odds of getting an E0 are getting better all the time and no you technically can't rma for those reasons.
I think you can RMA it through newegg if you received a C0 chip... check with their customer service to confirm this before buying
yea if u end up with a c1 be like the thermostat on the cpu is broken and theyll replace it but ull have to pay to ship it back
on the other hand u can always get a 9650
The EO chips have been around at least 6 months maybe more I highly doubt newegg has any CO for awhile since they sell more cpu's than anyone in the US.
As has been said, the likely hood of getting a C1 is dwindling. I know some have rma'd, just give a stuck sensor or some crap reason like that.

Why is everyone calling it a C0?

hmmm i was sure it was c1 but whatever.
Kinda scared reading some of the reviews on sites of people getting the c1 and that it was not able to operate at stock settings.

Not able to operate at stock settings...I doubt those are true.

I run my C1 at 3.9Ghz 24/7, so if someone can't get stock out of it they are just ******ed.

The differences between the E0 and C1 are not as drastic as some make it seem.

I get what your saying but i would rather not get some old q9550 that fell behind the shelf 3 years ago

Yea the one on newegg sounded like a doa chip but i had also seen a couple other reviews like saying people were not able to get it past 3ghz on other retailers sites.

q9550, EO stepping, less $ than the Egg:

http://www.antaresdigital.com/custom...8&cat=0&page=1

You might want to give them a call to confirm.

I was gonna do it, but then the Egg made an offer on the q9650 that I couldn't refuse (combo w/850w Corsair psu I was getting, -$30).

edit: also, the TRUE, in a couple of flavors, as well as some other good cpu coolers. Note that the crazypc folks will lap your cooler, if it can be lapped (for a fee).

http://www.crazypc.com/products/cool....htm#socket775

They've got TRUEs for either intel socket (775 or 1366), and kits which can make most decent cpu coolers work in either socket.

I just my Q9550 from the Egg about 4 weeks ago its a C1 stepping but it dont really matter I got mine up to 3.74 on my old P35 board.Just get one if its a EO then you got the good one.The C1 stepping isnt all that bad.
Thanks trying to find that true cpu cooler was driving me insane

Also seward thank you for pointing that combo deal out i think i am gonna go with a q9650 its only $20 more then the q9550 with that psu. (was planning on getting there 750 w but when i can upgrade to a q9650 and the 850 w for only a extra $40 it is well worth it)
