Was getting really annoyed with my ****ty Q6600 so i got my misses to buy me a thermaltake watercooling unit and a Q9650

Just checked my motherboards CPU support and the Q9650 is unsupported, its GA-965P-DS3 REV 1.0

Would it still work or would it not even boot up ? the bios im running is F13o Beta.. Dont think she'll buy me a new motherboard either

Both the chip and water cooling are coming tuesday, not told her yet it wont work in my machine.. she'll kill me

Q9650 = £200
Thermaltake water kit = 90

thats only £200 off a i7 bundle on ebay .. should of gone with that now

the thermaltake set is worse then the problem of your mobo in my opinion

you could always change the Q9650 for a Q9550 if that is supported

the TT kit should be sold instantly (or changed for a good aircooler)

i dont go mad with the overclocking but would like to add chipset blocks and gpu block to the water cooling system to cut down on fan noise..

Sorry DJ, but you shoulda done some research before hand. Your PC won't boot up if CPU is not supported... My mobo wouldn't even boot up with a CPU who's VID was higher than it like :S

it sucks that you can't change it.
but you could always try and sell it again (maybe with a profit

and the TT kit isn't good for cutting down on fan noise...
the TT kits are notorious for leaking and cracking...so i would get rid of it soon

and if you want to wc everything you need a strong pump, good block, and a big rad...so...no TT

hope this explains it a bit

gonna have to think quick on this 1, he'll be posting the TT tomoro, sop which CPU cooler was the best in his shop ? ill just have to buy a new mobo sat if my new chip dont work

From what i can see, you probably can run your chip on your board. But you would have to Overclock the board to run the CPU at stock
