Man i remember a while ago talken to a friend and he said someone had a quad raid-0 setup with 15,000rpm drives (cost like $1000)... now that prices are super cheap, the idea popped back into my head. How much real world performance would a quad stripe 15krpm have over say 2 raptors in a stripe or a single raptor in a stripe? Real world not just 'should be' or theoretical stuff...

lol yah but what am i acutally looking at? According to that site ... raid raptors is same as 1 raptor... but how about quad raided SCSI's? I know it'll be faster but what kind of 'faster' are we talken about. 8x as fast? 120MB/s vs. 700MB/s? I mean does the SCSI raid have the same crappy performance increase as the sata raid on teh raptors?

From everything I read SCSI seems to only be a improvement in a server type situation, but for a home pc gamer/user a Raptor will work just as well. Raid is basically pointless unless u are a benchmark whore... but, I guess to each his own.

Yah im a benchmark whore
And i want load seconds measured in nanoseconds and video editing done before i even click the start button! weeeeeee

What is this crap though, whats teh difference between gaming and "server applications"? Sounds like if i ran a server, all these cool technologies might actually apply to me
