Aside from the 4GB onboard memory, is this card similar to the GTX285?

Yes.

It won't do as well as the GTX285 in games though. It's drivers aren't optimized for that.

This.
It's a workstation card, gaming was not the intention of this card

It can stil lgame.... just not as well . I wouldnt get this card for the intention of gaming. Isnt it also much more expensive?
I thought he meant FX 5800 without the Quadro.

Yes, that's what's it's equivalent to.
it is approximately the same as a gtx 285 in terms of specs (other than the 4GB as you mentioned) but just so you know, it is certainly not intended to render graphics at a continuous rate (aka games), its a workstation card designed for highly detailed 3d modeling in programs like 3dsmax, cad, and such, frame by frame--like what you would use to create realistic images such as what are seen in the special effects of movies.
I need to look around again. I remember a moding article that instructs how to install Quadro drivers on a 8800 and a 9800. It said certain Geforce drivers are also compatible for Quadro cards. You just have to look at a certain file in the driver pack that states card compatibility... One of those things I should have bookmarked.
would be a waste for gaming, its risky trying to spoof one card into another, it would be a beast at folding though
