Quality 1TB for $100 or less

I know you guys must get this question all the time, but after a few days of research I still cannot decide which 1TB drive to buy. Right now, I am leaning towards the WD Caviar Black for $104. Other options are the Seagate Barracuda and the Samsung Spinpoint F1, both around $100.

Any advice as to which one I should purchase?

I'd go for the WD CB. WD have never faild on me, love their hard drives. Have that one myself as well, good one.
...Terabyte drives for barely $100??? I just can't believe it.

I've already had a bad experience with Seagates, go with WD CB

Yeah there's been lots of sales with them below $100 lately. Pretty amazing stuff.

i guess u can't go wrong with a samsung
wd black if u can find it for $100
i have a samsung 1tb f1 i got for $95 shipped and its great! Im getting the 640gb version for a friend's budget build.
I'd go with the Western Digital, I have a 750Gb Black Edition and the performance is phenomenal.
have 3 seagates running in raid5. I also own multiple WDs. Can't go wrong with either of them. I prefer seagate for its read performance. get the one with 3 (333 in model) platters instead of 4.

PS: don't be scared because of firmware bug. It was fixed a while back.

Firmware fixed or not, I bought a 1.5TB drive a few weeks ago and it started ticking and losing connection to mobo. Sent it back to Seagate and my new one's on it's way home. It had the current firmware installed from the factory and was still faulty.

Just my 2 cents!

I'm shopping around for a 1TB drive myself, and from what I've read, the general consensus points to either the WD Caviar Black or Samsung Spinpoint F1, with the "performance needle" pointed just slightly to the WD.

id get a seagate, i have a 1tb from before firmware fix and have yet to have any issues, no i havent flashed it either
There are a few really good seagate's over at newegg for 90ish shipped.
go for the WD its worth a few extra bucks ^_^
Only used samsung drives , and they are great
But WD has a great reputation , so i would suggest going WD or samsung, whichever you like most

I'm biast and I stick to what's worked for me in the past 15+ years. Western Digital has never done me wrong. (Well my 25MB hdd died, but um...it was like 4-5yrs old back in 1995?) ) lol They didn't quite last as long as the WD's of now.

WD black is even better yet!

i just ordered a 1TB caviar black edition that is scheduled to arrive in a few hours...will post the results! i'm going from a 160gb WD caviar (white?) that i've had since 2003...having been my only hard drive from that point, it now spins at about 96 RPM and takes forever to load anything, AND it has approx 3gb of space left. obviously, i'm expecting noticeable improvement.

lol hes an rl buddy i was joking but yeah everyone seems to want you to go with the WD black so when you get a chance at a flat $100 or near + free ship i would take the opportunity.
