Question about Cat6

Hey guys I just found out that theres cat6 out and was wondering if my router would accept the new interface. I know the connector is the same but the can't remember what it was called lol anyways will it work with my WRt54GS v6 router and my verizon westell 6110f?

Same interface as a cat5. Yes it will work fine.
Yes it will, But Your router is not gigabit and cat6 is rated for gigabit speeds. So it would be kinda pointless.

Cat6 is rated for gigabit speeds at up to 100 meters I believe, while Cat5e is rated for 100mbit speeds at up to 100 meters. Cat5e can still run gigabit, though, just not as long as Cat6 can.

There's no point buying CAT5E anymore. CAT6 costs pennies more and will not limit throughput for a good long while (CAT5E barely limits most networks).

CAT6 will work with any (recent) device with an RJ-45 port.
I would upgrade to Cat 6. It costs a few cents more and has a higher throughput tolerance which will help in future proofing.
