Question about CF

Hey I am new to this forum so hello. My question is I am planning to add a second 4870 for crossfire. My original card is the 512mb edition. I am thinking of buying another but 1gb this time around and when the time is right swap out the 512mb for another 1gb edition. Is this okay to do and will I have any problems using the 1gb with the 512 until I can afford to have the same amount of memory? Thanks a bunch.

You can use a 1GB with a 512MB in CF without any issues.
kinda pointless. Just get another HD 4870 512mb in crossfire and be done with it.

If you read his post then you would have seen that he eventually wants to run two 1GB cards. So getting the 1GB right now and waiting for some better deals to come around for another 1GB wouldn't be pointless at all.

right which leads me to my next question. Is it worth it to get the 1gb for a 1900x1200 monitor? I see that games are starting to use the larger amount of memory or will the 512 in CF will be sufficient. thanks
1Gb would benefit you more at 1920*1200. But either way, the current 512Mb card will hold you back because in CrossFire it will only use 512Mb for both cards.
