Question about overclocking

Does the memory speed on the GPU affect how high you can go with the core?
For example if I wan't to leave GPU mem to stock untill I find a stable GPU core speed, the low mem speed won't cause artifacts (only bottleneck)?

What card do you have and we can probably help you a bit more (is it your sig comp). But theoretically, no, the memory isn't related to the core clock.

They should be pretty much independent.
