Hey guys, im planning on buying a Sapphire HD5770 from the web.

I was watching some video's on youtube on how to install it and what it needs.

Appearantly my power supply (ATX 500W Techsolo, http://www.techsolo.net/site/product.php?lang=en&do=show&product_id=227&class_id=37) is not supporting a 6-pin external output.

Luckily this comes with an 2x 4-pin molex to 6-pin pci converter.

Now my question is, would the cable fit with my power supply?

In the information it says that it has a 4-pin atx connector, is that just fine with the converter cable (2x 4-pin to 6-pin pci converter).?

By 2x 4-pin molex to 6-pin pci converter they mean it is possible by the means of this adapter to convert two molex plugs into one PCIe 6pin connector. The molex plugs are the ones used to power CDRom's and HDD's, it has nothing to do with the 4pin ATX connector, that is reserved to power the CPU. Google molex connector to see how it looks like.

...as a side note, your PSU if it really were of 500W (and not only the marketing sticker) it should have had at least one (or 3-4) 6pin PCIe connector. The fact it doesn't seems bizzare, I hope it's up to the task. Normally even 300W quality PSUs can run the 5770 and have PCIe connectors.

Thanks Dragosmp, i will open up my pc later on and i will see what it got (Its better to see for myself).

I hope it will have standard 6-pin power connectors attached, or if the power supply has 2x 4-pin molex plugs to convert it into a 6-pin pci plug to fit in the card's external power input.

Well thats a mouth full ^_^

GOOD NEWS,

I have opened my case with my dad, and appearantly there is a 6-pin cable with 6-pin output coming out of the Power Supply.

So i dont have to worry anymore about that, thanks for your attention overclock.net community.

Problem solved.

Edit: I just ordered the card and im so excited xD .

Congrats on your purchase, hope everything works out for you!

One thing that I can also recommend while having your computer opened up is cleaning it. That always increases performance due to better cooling.

Keep us updated! What is your existing GPU?

A saw a nice boost with my overclocked 5770 over my old 4850.

I always read 5570 as 5770!

The overclock is really well especially that I have dual 80mm side fans blowing fresh air into the GPU. My max GPU temp in Crysis 2 maxed out at 1280x1024 is 47c.

In Crysis 2 and NFS Shift 2 Unleashed, I get 40 FPS average with everything maxed out and running dual monitors.

The 5770 is the best card when it comes to $/performance.

Oh yeah! Not a problem at all.

I would like to know exactly which version you got, so when you get your card, flip it on the back and please post what is written on the sticker.

Enjoy your card
you will notice a difference for sure.

Don't be discouraged if you try to oc it and it doesn't take well it is the luck of the draw some of the Sapphire 5770's don't like to be oc'd much if anything. I was only able to push mine (in crossfire) to 900/1300 @1.1v which isn't bad but not the best. While others I have read up on can easily push them to 960/1400 @ 1.2v or higher, the highest I have seen is 1010/1400 @1.2v.

What would you sell your old card for if you are willing to sell it?
