I just got this for free (with a XP 2400+)

and 1 512mb stick of DDR. It says the max it supports is 1GB total is this true? I was planning on buying a 1GB stick for 1.5GB total, but not if it wont work...
Also, will it overclock?

1.5 is useless for that unless you can utilize if for the igp. those old chips can barely overclock about 100 or 200 mhz.
I've had a few mobo's work with 1.5GB When they said they would work with a max of 1GB. That was on a P4 HP Mobo though, so you'll have to take a chance there

Hmmm i wish i had some ddr1 laying around so I could try it. Useless? Even in XP 1.5GB is faster than 1GB. And a 1gb stick barely costs any more than a 512 so if it will work id rather get the 1GB.

Yeah, I agree that 1.5GB > 1GB. Makes a lot of difference.

Good luck with the search!
