If you're buying a new motherboard it will have PCI-E 2.0 slots. Any new card will work in it. it may just say PCI-E x16 because they will assume you know its 2.0 because its a new motherboard.

PCIe 2.0 x16 card will work in a PCIe 1.0 x16 slot because of backward compatibility. This is in general. There might be a few exceptions though.
(I do not remember the figure but the performance loss is something like a few %)

Not that I know of.
A PCI-Express card does not work in a PCI slot (both mechanically and electrically).

That's not what he's asking

He's asking if a PCI-E 2.0 GPU will work in a PCI-E 1.0 Slot.

Which it will

If thats what it says in the FAQ then yeah, it does.

The motherboard has to be SLi compatible, its like you can't put crossfire in a non-crossfire compatible motherboard.

Yes, I replied with #5 that it will work.

However, OP asked a different question in #6.

And I replied to that post.

If you use a modern motherboard with Intel X58 chipset, it does not need any nForce chipset on board.

No, not true, some of the low end mATX boards are still v1.1.
