Question about voltage

323 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  sweetc6
Hi guys.I have a Intel i7 920 DO that is overclocked to 4000.MHz. My voltage is set to 1.35. I notice that a lot of people have there's set a lot lower. Is it better to have it set to 1.35 or if I lower the voltage how would that affect my set up? Will it run hotter or cooler? Thanks in advace for all your replys. Gary

If you lower the voltage, then it will run cooler, however, doing so runs the risk of instability.

Generally, the rule of thumb is to have your voltage as low as you need to be stable.

this. But you are still in the safe parameters for the voltage.

lower the voltage to 1.32v and test with LinX. if it passes 25 runs then lower it more.
and of course, lowering the voltage will result in a cooler CPU.
When I lower the cpu voltage to 1.32 should I also lower the QPI/Dram core voltage as well? I notice before I changed the voltage that the CPU voltage was the same as the QPI/Dram core voltage .both were set at 1.35.
