Question abouut the SMP client

If I built a computer with linux and not winXP could I still set up the SMP client?

Yeah. Linux SMP is faster than Window's SMP IMO.

VMWare allows you to have a Virtual OS running above another during desktop, but installing Linux and setting up to fold should be the same.
Knitelife did a bunch of testing and found that there wasn't a significant difference in folding speed among Linux distros. Native Linux SMP is the current king of the hill for folding production, so by all means give it a shot.
