I just bought a q9550, will my current CPU cooler suffice for decent->good ocing?

It will be ok. The Xiggy's strength is in its ability to cool dual cores. It doesn't do as good of a job when it comes to Quads. I'd look into upgrading only if you plan to overclock.
it will be fine with an overclocked quad its on par with a my Noctua
Depends how much you're willing to spend.

Xig Dark Knight
Noctua NH-U12P
True (some high cfm fan)

Would be my choices.

That's basically the only upgrade path from your Xig for air-cooling. How well it performs also depends on how many volts you'll need for your OC. See how temps are before considering a new cooler.

It does fine with mine, you'll be safe.
Umm CSU_ComputerMajor, where are you pulling these coolers from? The three that you posted can't compete with something like a TRUE.
those thermaltake hsf are not as good as his Xiggy getting a Dark Knight or Noctua would be a total waste of money since his current performs just as good.. Now adding a bolt thru kit would help. The only real upgrade would be a TRUE or an IFX-14. I dont know why people are telling you to upgrade your Xiggy its perfectly fine.
Your going to be fine, but it really matters on how much your going to be overclocking...
So you guys are recommending me testing it out before buying?
I did buy some Arctic Silver CMQ-22G as well.
I'm not too worried about ocing, it'll be a big performance increase from dual->quad anyway.

Xiggy HDT S1283 is one the best heatsinks out today. It will work perfectly fine with an overclocked Q9550
