I just picked up a FT02 and won't be able to use an antenna with the top on due to the covedr. If you go here http://www.digitalet.com/Computer%20...as%20Boosters/ (I've dealt with this seller before), there's an ugly gray D-link antenna with 10dBi and a nicer looking black Gigabyte one with 5dBi.
Anyway, our router's currently at the other end of the house and I was just wondering if it'd be foolish to get the 5dBi one.

Yea, I don't know what a FT02 is, google comes up with as a pc case?

Foolish? no. I can't speak for every device out on the market, but I have a 2dbi, 5dbi, and 9dbi antenna for my wifi adapter, all perform nearly identical as my 2dbi.

The change in dBi for antennas describes the shape of coverage. The higher you go with an onmi means better horizontal coverage and worse vertical coverage. You basically take a doughnut shape and pull on the sides as you increase dBi
