I'll be ordering very soon the Watercool HEATKILLER® GPU-X³ GTX570/580 blocks to replace my 2 EK's and I want to order the Watercool HEATKILLER® GPU-X² Dual-Link (3-Slot) too..

Do I need to select the optional SLI fittings with the blocks or it is an alternative to the dual-link? It's an option on the order page of the gpu blocks on performance-pcs website..

I'm asking since EK's dual link required additional parts for it.. I'm not too sure for watercool's..

thanks guys!

As far as I know, you don't need any additional hardware for the HK links. Can you link the SLI fittings you're talking about? Also, make sure that you really need a 3 slot and not a 2 slot block.

On another note, your EK backplates will work with the HK blocks

sweet! I was wondering if I would be forced to fix the backplate with tie-wraps and whatnot, thanks for the head's up! And I'm in slot 1 and 3 for my sli setup, I got burned the first time I got an EK link, ordered a 2 slots block lol

the problem with what you're asking is that there's no picture of said optional sli fittings, hence my asking.. I tried to look directly on watercool's german site without success

Do you have a link to the item, even without a picture?

Regarding the backplate, use the 7 or 8 screws that came with the backplate to secure it. Still use the remaining screws that came with the block in the other spots. Should fit just fine.

Hey, I was thinking of getting a standard EK Copper/Acetal block for my 580 and was wondering why you're ditching yours? There an issue? Thanks

I'm preeety sure that I have the nickel plating issue with them.. got some metal paticles in my res..

Had a herpderp moment with my loop and got a leak.. I have 2 gtx580 blocks that I'm apprehending are scrapped and I have two brand new gtx480 that I still have from last year(lack of rep here to sell them) I'm not gonna sell them to somebody else, don't want to give that trouble to anyone else.. and I'm a bit weary of getting new ek blocks even the EN ones.. All that to say that if I have to remove them I'll replace them instead of rma and stuff.. they didn't want to exchange the brand new unused gtx480 blocks for the 580's.. not too keen on doing business with them for the time being...

this ia my opinion and experience, their blocks still look cool as hell and I still have a full board block from them that's staying in my loop.. just a bit of mistrust for the current gpu blocks

IMO, do what I did. RMA the blocks, then help a few people to get your 35 rep and sell the replacements on here.

[edit]Wrong thread! lol
I still highly doubt you are seeing a corrosion issue that severe after one day. I had to RMA both my CPU and GPU nickel blocks back in July and I only had a few spots on each block after 3 weeks. What looks like complete removal of nickel after a day seems a bit far fetched (though I suppose it's possible).

well I tried contacting performance-pcs for that matter and it appears that you do NOT need the ''optional sli fittings'' listed on the gpu block's page!

just putting it here for anyone who would need that information in the future!

I've ordered the blocks I'll confirm 100% the validity upon receiving the package!
