quick quick. ultra kaze 3000 rpm fans

can they be plugged directly to the mobo header or do i need to use a fan controller?

Yes they can. They have a 3 pin connector.

I believe they can be plugged into the mobo header, but that's cutting it a bit close on voltage... especially on start up. Any way of getting the specs of your mobo headers? Not all are rated for the same voltage.

Just because they have a 3 pin doesn't mean they can be safely plugged into the motherboard. My San Ace fan has a 3 pin, i plugged it into a header...the header no longer works now lol.

on an evga x58 mobo... i dont really know the specs on the voltage.

thats what im worried about... im not about to plug in my uk fans to the header just to find out either.

Oh it won't hurt the fan...just makes a bit of smoke out of the header.

It's fine. The Ultra Kaze is more of a consumer level 38mm fan and they know some people can be idiots. Good thing you checked though.

Well a fan header will usually allow for some sort of speed control and monitoring.
