What have you guys heard about this processor?

Think it can run on the 780i chipset?

What have I heard?

It's the stupidest thing anyone can buy.

Since you can get a Q9650 for 1/3 the price and still clock it just as high.

haha owned. but i agree. there is no point getting it.
for the price of one of those you could build a i7 rig....
Heck, those new E0 Q9550s can do 4Ghz with safe volts. And they're close to 1/5th the price.
>_>. uh. with money not being a factor in this, how does it compare with for example the q9650/qx9650?

also, ive noticed its a 1600 fsb processor. if i were to have a 780i with 1333 fsb, how would it effect the processors capabilities? how about overclocking capabilities?
if I were you I would just get the q9650 or q9550 E0 steppings, money can be better spent elsewhere and as you know the qx chips tend to run hotter and need wc setup to clock it to the max I believe.
this cpu sucks

while the 780i supports 1,333MHz Penryn CPUs, it isn't clear if it will work with the upcoming 1,600MHz FSB Core 2 Extreme QX9770 CPU. Nvidia has been cagey concerning this issue, saying that it can't comment on compatibility until Intel releases a shipping part. however, its a no go. Using a 3.2GHz/1,600FSB Core 2 QX9770, the XFX 780i board wouldn't work even with the CPU and FSB downclocked to a 1,333MHz FSB.

C1s usually top out at 3.8Ghz. Whereas the E0s have been known to hit 4Ghz. The magical 4Ghz.
