SAPPHIRE Radeon X1600PRO(agp) vs. eVGA Geforce 6600GT(agp)... the question is what is the better card? Both well rounded and priced cheap. I know the radeon has 12 pixelpipelines and the evga has 8. the evga runs at 500mhz, 950mhz ( around that) and the radeon runs 500mhz, 800mhz. I am just wondering what would be the better buy and what will last me longer? Even though the radeon is new and the driver is a little buggy overall I believe it is the better buy? What card should I buy?

I'd go with the eVGA 6600GT. I've got it, great card, easy OC. Plus eVGA's Step Up program rules.

x1600pro has 12 pixel piplines while 6600gt has 8

i heard taht gddr2 is not good and heats up quickly so taht is what makes me buy a 6600gt but i do not want to play games like doom or quake. i play games like
FEAR
CS: Source
FarCry
NFS Most Wanted

which will be better for me on my pc (emachines t3085)
FIC nForce2 igp (1 8xagp available)
Amd Athlon Xp 3000+ ~2.171 (stanard clock) 333fsb
2*256 samsung PC 3200 running at 333 becasue of my cpu clock speed limit
hitachi 7200rpm 160gb
Integrated GeForce4 mx 128mb

6600GT. I have it my system, runs all my games on Medium settings perfectly. I get about 40 FPS in Half Life 2 on high settings at 1024 x 768.

I would take the 6600GT due to the GDDR3, much faster than the GDDR2. They both will play all games without a problem.

I assume you'll be on windows only so you can look at both nvidia and ati (ati on linux sucks)..

The x1600pro looks more promising...I think it'll be easier to fit a good heatsink on it (I personally like AC Silencers but my 6600gt can't have one). The x1600pro also does HDR a LOT better, no emulated or attempted stuff...

The x1600pro looks like a more promising card. When in doubt, get the newer one.
