raid 0 ???

I noticed that windows says i have 596GB of HD shouldnt it say something like 298GB? if i have my disks striped and/or raid 0???

no its right. When you enable a striped raid array (raid 0) it will add the space from both drives together so it will show out of 640GB instead of two separate drives. Be careful tho, remember that raid 0 has no redundancy, meaning if one hdd fails then you are SOL. The pro is the huge speed boost tho.

Raid 0 is striping which means one bit goes to one drive then the other driver for the next bit. This is why you have 596GB space cause you arent mirroring.

Also, just a little FYI:

If you ever use RAID 1 It will appear only 298GB because its mirroring to the other drive.

RAID 0 is in simple terms adding the space of the 2 HDD together and gain of speed, but also; If one HDD fails, your SOL
