Just got another 80GB Seagate Barracuda and set it up in a RAID 0 array with my existing one. It loads my fresh install of XP really fast, performance in Windows is no different but installing drivers and software is taking a VERY long time. Is it supposed to be really slow at installing things?

Also, when I restart my computer it goes through the "Windows is shutting down" screen, the monitor powers off and the keyboard lights go off...and then it sits there. No reboot

You may want to try 16k... I have never had a slow down with anything on 16k.

Weird.. my burst speed is almost exactly the same. When you are installing things are they off of your CD/DVD? If so check your primary IDE controller and make sure it isn't set to PIO. I installed windows fresh before and my DVD-R went to PIO mode and was REALLY slow until I changed it back to DMA.

That might be something like it, I will check now!

I installed Firefox (off the hard drive) and that was fast, I installed graphics drivers off a memory stick and that was fast :/
