i was wondering...can i install a pc4000 ram on this motherboard or PC4200 ?..please help..

and...what the different?.cuz i'm using a ddr 400 pc3200..rite now..what happen when i install a ddr500?? Will the ram nderclock??

The RAM will default to the 'speed' of the CPU, ie. 200MHz, just like it was PC3200. The benefit of a higher speed RAM is that it gives you more headroom for overclocking. With PC3200 (DDR400) you are overclocking it as soon as you raise the FSB/HTT. With PC4000 (DDR500) you have to get to 250 before you are overclocking it

we've got here but Im running 4x512 and can OC OK Maybe try 2x512 of the same brand just to see what'd happen. Maybe the CPU doesnt like to GO. BTW im on BIOS 1016 too

Thank you..now i understand..so i'll buy pc4000 for more headroom then..any way .I plan to OC my X2 to 2.7ghz is it possible..Or what speed is MOst staple for my processor???MY CPu temp at 38 C (idle)

Try to stay away from running cas3. I see alot of these high speed rams pc4000 1gb modules running cas3. Thats crap, stay away. Using cas2 or 2.5 will yield better performance unless your cas3 is like pc600.

Try to stay in the cas2/2.5 arena. Dont forget that this motherboard only goes up to like 3.0vdimm (might be 2.95, i forget) so try to get TCCD sticks. And dont worry about loosening up the rest of the rams timings, it wont effect performance to any noticeable degree.

AMD's like lower cas better than slightly higher speeds with loose timings. Amds depend on overall clock speed for performance mostly.

if you are looking at 2gb modules you're going to have to run a CAS of 3 when you're talking DDR500+ some of the better modules will run DDR500 @ 2.5, but they're still rated at 3. 1gb modules actually tend to run pretty good at 3-3-3-8 too so don't be too afraid of that.
