I have a similar setup. A P3 650MHz, Asus P2B-VT (Kestral), which orginally had 128MB RAM that I upped to 640MB. The improvement in operation was phenominal. Even with XP SP2. I also put in an old Vid Card that I had, nVIDIA Geforce MX 200, used Coolbits to overclock it. So it has somewhat decent graphics, for being an old computer used as a backup anyway.
My suggestion is to get ahold of some old computers and harvest their RAM. I am sure yours uses SD. Also, Check for a BIOS update. Use the RAM optimizer that other helpful OCer suggested. Lastly, disable everything. Go through this XP Optimizer guide and do everything you can to decrease Windows running requirements. http://www.overclock.net/faqs/36430-...uide-tips.html
