Which RAM specifications are specific to a computer?

So I currently have 2 x 4GB RAM on my T430 laptop. It is 4 GB 204 Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800).

I'm trying to upgrade my RAM to 2 x 8GB. I know I need to find RAM with the same pin number (204). But what about the other specs? Does the speed also have to be 1600? And what about the timings and voltage, do those have to be exactly the same as the RAM that's currently in my computer. Basically I'm trying to understand which RAM specifications have to be the same as the one that's already running on my computer and which RAM specifications don't matter as much (as long as the two sticks are the same).

Hope that makes sense. I have trouble verbalizing my thoughts. Thanks!

For 100% compatibility, I.E. plug-n-play the only important part is:
204 Pin DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

Timings and voltages do not matter for compatibility.
