whats better performance wise?

4-4-4-12 @800

or

5-5-5-12 @1066

The 1066 setting is a tad faster, but not by much.

I would actually bet that it could vary from system to system, with how much AMD likes tight timings. It might be worth while to just run a few benches with each setting to see what your system likes.

I had the same quandry when I built so I did my best to split the difference and by 900mhz memory that ran at 4-4-4-12

My rig benches slightly better with DDR1000 and 5-5-5-15 2T, vs the DDR750 4-4-4-10 1T that I had it at for a while, so it really depends.

Like Pao said, getting the balance between timings and speed is where the best performance is.
