Rampage II Extreme Weird Behavior

Hey all,

I've run into a weird situation and was hoping to see if anyone had some thoughts.

I had a GTX 295 but took it out (long story). Everything was fine and no problems.

After installing a BFG GTX 280 OC Version I started having problems. The first time around the system crashed with the blue screen. I turned off the system via case power button. I then proceeded to turn the system back on. The system and the components would power up but it would not boot and cycle through the lcd poster. I then turn off power by holding the power button for a few seconds to turn off system. Next, I turned off main power by switching the psu switch. I then switch atx power back on (after 15 seconds) and the system would boot after clicking the power button on the case. However, it would take me a to a prompt menu saying "Overclocking failed! Please enter Setup to re-configure your system. Press F1 to Run Setup. Press F2 to load default values and continue." I hit F1 go into setup, everything looks good including memory on xmp settings. I don't change anything in the bios. I click save and exit and once I exit the bios menu it boots fine to windows.

The last two days I would get the same problem. That is once I shutdown from windows when I power up the system from a cold boot system powers on but nothing happens. It's on but no boot or bios cycle. I then again turn off the system via the power button then proceed to turn off main power by switching the psu switch. I then switch atx power back on after 15 seconds. I click the case button for power and system boots then takes me to that same overclocking failed prompt where then I once again go back into bios look at the settings, click save and exit without changing anything and then am able to load the system to windows.
In the morning I had the same problem. I would do what I mentioned to get the system to windows.

About 6 hours later I booted the system from cold start and its fine no problems... 2 hours later I booted again from cold start and no problem. This is really confusing the hell out of me. I am going to give it some time see what happens before I must go to the next level. I am hoping that someone may have any ideas or suggestions about this issue.
Thanks!

I have also flashed the bios 0804 and even switch bios on the board but it does not seem to have a direct effect on fixing this issue.

The attached picture is what happens when I get the system up from cold boot. Also a pc probe screen shot and cpuz screen shot.

I did not try that yet. Was wondering if any other things to try before that. What about the voltages. My cpu is only at 1.06V from pc probe but the settings in the bios are on auto

Sounds like you are experiencing the cold boot issue with the R2E. Apparently this board is VERY picky about its power. Mine wouldn't even post with the enermax Galaxy DXX 1000w. I am surprised to hear this seeing you are running the Corsair 1000w HX which is supposedly the least troublesome PSU for the R2E. are you still having an issue? have you tried BIOS 1104? 1104 was apparently a BIG update as far as resolving some Cold boot issues and also removing some OC limitations.

Also what cooling are you using? those temps are great!

Hey sorry for delay...

I am actually using the stock cooler and of course the antec case makes a big difference. I am still having the issue. It all started with when I installed the gtx 280 so I have feeling it may have to do with that. I am going to move it to another slot and see what happens. Ill prob contact tech support after that see what they recommend. 1104 sounds like a nice jump though
