Had some reward zone coupons totalling about $25 and a 15% off accessory coupon for BestBuy so I picked up the Razer Lycosa to go with my Razer Mat, Lachesis, and Barracuda setup. Ended up being like $50 bucks after tax... not bad! But let me tell you I AM VERY UPSET!!!

The anti ghosting on this keyboard is screwed. You cannot use the caps lock key while using any other 2 keys at once. My gaming setup assigns caps-lock for walk/sprint, shift for crouch, and ctrl for prone.

For example in MW2 you are crouched, moving forward and (strafing) left or right, you cannot just press caps-lock to initiate a sprint and stand fully. Last night it actually got me killed quite a few times before I finally said screw it and I'm not dealing with this BS and uplugged the damn board.

I called Razer support and they confirmed caps lock key cannot be used for anti-ghosting. IMO Razer really messed up. Caps lock is right next to the A key. THIS IS A GAMING KEYBOARD!!!! Come on RazerGuys use your brain!!!

So the only other Razer keyboard that will work for me is the Tarantula and hey look its discontinued! With a possibility of being remade in the near future
according to the Razer Rep, I'm still screwed if I want a Razer keyboard. The Arctosa and Lycosa Mirror are the exact keyboard hardware and will have the same problems.

The keyboard has a great feel. Gets dirty easy(so what). The lighting is noticeable but not very bright. And overall it is comfortable. It's too bad because I would be all over this board if it weren't for this issue!!!

The only reason I'm happy is because I purchased it from Best Buy and it is going to be very easy to return.

Way to mess this one up Razer!

Get a mechanical keyboard with N-Key Roll Over. I used to own a Lycosa and after getting the Filco Majestouch Linear Force, I've never looked back. I believe that the "Anti-Ghosting" technology for Razer Lycosa only applies to the WASD cluster.

Good thing I didnt get a Lycosa, instead I got the higher Tarantula. Works great.
Lycosa and their Arctosa are very similar on their anti ghosting technology, and yes you are correct, it only works around the WASD cluster.
That is also another reason i got the Tarantula instead, the Anti-Ghosting tech applies for the whole keyboard, instead of selective areas.

Damn, that sucks for you dude. I am currently using the Lycosa and love it. I do not use the same keys you do for prone/crouch/stand. I just use the change stance option and assign it to Ctrl. Maybe you should try that. Tap to crouch and hold to prone. Then i just use space to stand again or tap shift to sprint from prone.

Try it, if you don't like it then just take the board back.

Tried it and hated it! I just got back from BBY and returned the item.

For all saying that anti-ghosting is applied around the WASD cluster, caps-lock is right next to the A key, thus making it around the WASD cluster I think it is just absolutely ignorant to not have caps-lock included as one of the keys supported.

I'm getting a Deck brand (or something similar) mechanical keyboard.
It seems like all these Razer and Logitech "gaming" keyboards aren't made any better than the one I got at Micro Center for $9.99
Cell membrane is cell membrane, after all. Even if you add an LCD display, back-lighting etc.

Before I get into this, here is the truth regarding what Ghosting really is (this is taken straight from the Mechanical Keyboard Guide in Post #5):

Quote:
n-key Rollover (NKRO)
This is when you can press as many keys as you want at the same time, and all of them go through. This is similar to what some 'gaming keyboards' incorrectly market as "anti-ghosting", even though Logitech and Razer only apply it to the WASD cluster (more on what ghosting really means later). You might also hear the term where n is replaced with a number (i.e., 6-key rollover), which means that up to that number of keys can be pressed simultaneously. Note that only PS/2 keyboards can exhibit full n-key rollover. USB spec limits keyboards to 6 regular keys plus 4 modifiers (but remember, it's not guaranteed, it's just a maximum).

Ghosting
Ghosting is when you press two keys on the keyboard, and a 3rd key - which you didn't press - gets sent to the PC as well. This is very rarely seen on even the cheapest modern boards, because manufacturers have the habit of limiting the rollover so that ghost keys are always blocked.
The only NKRO that the Lycosa has is for the WASD cluster. You can hold all 4 of those keys down and they will all register. But for this to function, you have to press that lighting switch so that the WASD cluster is the only thing lit up.

But all in all, all keyboards like this are over-priced junk. Yes, I said it. If anyone here wants to take offense to that, then that's ok with me. I used to own the Lycosa, and I used to love it and I used to highly recommend it. But now I wouldn't even give it away - not even to an enemy.

If you were to return this and buy a new keyboard, then I strongly recommend buying a good mechanical keyboard. But don't be scared of the word "mechanical". I am fully aware that the word looks like it means "old and archaic", but I have learned that it's quite the opposite. I mean, I'm currently typing on the Filco Majestouch Tactile Click NKRO, and I absolutely love this keyboard. I wouldn't trade it for any other keyboard in the world. I don't miss a damn thing about my old Lycosa. The Lycosa (and even the G15 that I had for a couple of weeks) doesn't even come close to this keyboard. Not only do I have full NKRO (or, 100% Anti-Ghosting... heh... but it's not Anti-Ghosting you guys), but the feel is absolutely amazing (so is the sound of the switches).

To give you an idea of the feel, here's a description I found on YouTube by a guy named "dabeshu". It's his opinion of the Majestouch Tactile Click NKRO:

"The sound is as crisp as a dry leaf in the desert, and the feeling, i would say, is up there in the God-Tier with kneading a natural, high-quality pair of a pregnant woman's breasts."

Here's the video: YouTube- Filco Majestyle Tactile Click NKRO

While I like his description, I feel that there's absolutely no combination of words that can truly describe how awesome a keyboard like this is. One has to see it, hear it, and feel it to truly understand just how vastly superior it is to keyboards like the Lycosa.

But most people don't want to consider mechanical boards because most of them are very plain in both their appearance and feature set. But again: I don't miss one single little thing about the Lycosa, and that's saying a lot since I loved the media keys, the backlighting and the stylish appearance. Well, I loved everything about the Lycosa. But in comparison to the Majestouch, it's like comparing a child's pretend tool set to a man's real-life, high-end and high quality professional tool set.

Now, I spent exactly $145 shipped for my keyboard ($134 before shipping). Am I insane? Meh. Maybe. But if I had known back then how good this board is and how much I was going to like it, then I think that I probably would have even paid $200 or more.

So, just visit the Mechanical Keyboard Guide (or better yet, go to http://geekhack.org/ to talk to the experts on mechanical keyboards) and get started. But if you have any interest in this, then please carefully read the entire guide before posting anything. Yep, I am referring to the first 10 posts made by Manyak.

I promise you that if you get a good board with NKRO, then you could end up being happier with your keyboard than you are with your entire computer system.

Thank you for all of the great info!

This pissed me off so much i thought it might have been my USB card so i got a new one still same error. I play some racing games and i use the up, down, left, right buttons.

It has this ghosting error so when i race i have to let go of the up button to brake then let go of the brake and press the up button again to go. So i now have to use the WASD keys to race it doesn't feel right but works well.

I found a $2 logitech keyboard on the road which was wireless in its box being chucked away so i use that it works better than the Razer lycosa.

Contrary to what many people say, that's not ghosting. That's just poor key rollover.

When Razer says that this keyboard has anti-ghosting features, they're talking about when gaming with the WASD cluster, not the arrow keys.
