should i get a raptor? just for the hell of it? and does it benefit on gaming?

ill say if you have the money to spend go for it. i really dont know if it benefits on gaming, but it does on data transfer!

no, it is not a huge increase, but the snappiness of a raptor is quite nice, it all depends. so we can help you, please fill out the specks of your rig in your signature.

HDD's only benefit load times between levels. All HDD/SSD are far too slow to have a real time effect in games. If you lack RAM and must suffer HDD hit? Not where you wanna be.

Will it be good for overall system performance? Yes.

With my experience running RAIDs, I've used the WD 640 AAKS and now the Raptor 150Gb in RAID 0. To be honest, there is not a huge difference between the 2 setups. So I would recommend spending a lot less on the Western Digital 640 AALS (has 32Mb cache instead of 16Mb like the AAKS).

I followed his career and thought 5 was too many. When I saw 7 I flipped thats when I saw 1 unique rep. Sad I could of told the little kid how to do if I was so inclined which I am not. But sad he can't even pull this off as not complicated.

Overlooking the twist this thread has taken - Raptors are really not going to give you any kind of benefit in games unless you happen to be loading levels constantly on Farcry with an ancient system. They ARE good drives though. Well worth the cash for the right application, useless for general gaming.
