So someone just orderd this moniter for me as a christmas gift after asking me. I looked up some basic reviews (before and after ordering) and found that apparently it does not have a very good response time. The main reason I choose this was because it was on sale.

It has a very high contrast ratio though and its 1080p. Its bigger than my old moniter and my old acer 22 inch LCD has a 700:1 contrast ratio.

The reviews all said good things about them about having exilent colours and contrast but the responce time might not be good enough for fast games.

I just wanted to ask what kind of a game would I notice any of this in?

I know this is going to be really great for doing work on, 23 inch 1080p is going to give me a huge workspace.

My monitor, the Xerox XA7-17i has the same, 8ms response time and having owned it for four years I cannot fault it; Race Drivers Grid, Crysis, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Assassins Creed are a few of the selection of games I have played, all of which showed no signs of ghosting or blurring.

I also have a NEC Multisync LCD1970NXP which has a 20ms response time and playing any game looks horrific; Playing Crysis Warhead was horrible, even when moving the mouse slowly there was noticable blurring.

20ms does sound very long.

I havent had any problems with samsung before. I dont expect to be doing any heavy gameing on it though. 8ms might be high but even in games like crysis they have things like motion blur to add effects. So if I start getting blurryness in my games I can see it as a good thing that adds to the experience lol.

If you can play games like Crysis and Grid im sure I will be fine.

I've been mostly using my computer for writing essays and such and having problems with not having enough space on the screen.
