Re-assembling a TJ07 after paint

Hi guys,

I have a quick question:

So as we all know the TJ07 is a great case because it has very few rivets and can be taken apart very easily. I recently got one for my latest project and am about to enter the painting phase. What is the best way/order to re-assemble this case after painting? The reason I ask is because a lot of the parts are a really tight fit and I'm afraid of some really serious scratching.

The last thing I want is to pull of a perfect paint job and then ruin it trying to put the case back together. Is there a good order of things to put in to avoid scratching the case insides up?

Thanks!

After your done painting, clear coating and such, let the paint cure for two weeks or so and then go ahead and reassemble. After that period of time the paint should be much more resistant to dings and scratches, so reassembly should be easier.

As for the order things should be put back together, I'm not sure I can help there. Personally, I don't think it matters much. Just put things together in an order that makes sense.
I've run into that myself in projects before. There really isn't a specific order that you need to go in...just do it carefully. There is probably a little flex in the panels - so hopefully you shouldn't scratch it up too much. Just wait a bit (a week or two) after painting before putting it back together.

Also - one of the great hings is that when you do put it back together - the spots that are most likely to get scratched up will be the spots that are covered by the other panel (ie: the area around the inside panel where the rivet is placed). You should not be able to see scratches etc. there.
I've thought about assembling all the internals into one piece, then just taking those and mounting them into the main frame of the case. Yes/no/maybe?
I don't have a TJ07, but I think that would be fine.

Good luck with the paint job, beautiful case you've got there.
May I ask what color you've painted it?

Well, you should check out my latest project, called Imolation
link is in the sig. Color is Imola Pearl Orange.. case hasn't been painted yet but I've done a few GIMP mockups.

Waiting for the paint to cure as stated above is critical. Also before assembly use a hard auto wax finish, it will help deflect/reduce the chance of scratching.
