Ok, i got my x850xtpe, zalman 9500, and Hiper Type R 580W. Im ready to overclock...or almost atleast.

The problem is that my 9500, altho set to full speed (2200rpm), it stays at 1500. So did my old cooler. It went up when the processor went hot. Im 100%! sure that i disabled cool'n'quiet in my BIOS. Still, i think something is stopping it from reacing that 2200rpm. Anyone know whats wrong?

After that, i could use some help to overclock. Last time i overclocked, then underclocked back to standard speeds, the processor seemed MUCH slower than it was at standard before. Im pretty sure i set everything back to normal. I would really like to hit atleast 2.5ghz, now with my new cooler and all

thanks in advance

You should have some fan settings in your bios. Look under each section.
My board allows you to set which temperature you want your fan OFF, or on HIGH. Take a look around, it's gotta be in there....

ok..

another way i noticed it was that it doesnt even give any speed to the third fan plug...the leds go on but not the fan. It must be my bios. Ill give it a check.

ok, fixed it now
idle temp @ 27C.

Now for the overclocking. I think i read that my timings adjust themselves to the divider.. is it smart to have it that way or would you suggest manual timings? last time i tried a guys manual timings my pc wouldnt boot. What would be optimal for 2.5? (if you need more info on my ram i could get you a link if nessecary)

another thing im wondering, is why, my vcore is @ 1.5v but in CPU-Z it sais 1.38? it was like this on previous AND current PSU...

90nm or socket 939 chips operate at 2.0. You are thinking about socket 754 newcastle chips and others that do perform at 2.2 (3200+).

As far as the overclocking timmay, just input the numbers, I hope you are familiar with your bios and the settings..

250 x 10
HTT x 4
Vcore 1.55
memory timings = default
Memory voltage 2.7
Memory divider 166

post a link to your memory.

hrmf, my bios is annoying me. I cant increase CPU voltage by numbers have to use percentage. Ill just set it up according to what you suggested.
But do you want the sensor to measure 1.55 V or just set the numbers to it? cause the sensor sais 1.37V altho its set to 1.5 (according to core center i used before.) ill give it a try with the numbers..

as for the ram: heres the store i got it from:
http://www.psdata.no/ps.asp?it=107264&mlevel=011001

and for the detailed name i think its Geil DDR 2.0GB CL3 value dual channel

EDIT: I got the cpu temps wrong. Idle temp @ 25-26

well, maybe as mentioned, after my last overclock, then back to normal, my computer became alot slower in startup. I now tried what u said tytlyf, just at 240MHz FSB. Do you think it could run stable at 2.6? Idle temp now at 2.4 is 27C. I really would like to hit 2.75 or sth like that. My loading time in BF2 with full graphics is just too much

what would i need to set it up to 2.6 or 2.75? ive been testing, and i noticed that with my ram timings on auto and divider @ 166 my comp wouldnt start up. the timings were set to 2.5 3 3 7. What should i set them to be able to reach higher fsb's?
