Ready to buy a PS3 Headset

So I was browsing the net for the past few hours and I've been contemplating. So I said... "Yeaaaa, why not? I want to be able to stay up till 3am and play MW2 without waking up my younger brother" lol. I've been looking at headsets and am now just confused.

I can't decide whether I want/need a wireless gaming headset, or a wired one. *I think RF or IF line is > blue tooth in terms of audio. Correct me if I'm wrong*

Currently, I have an old 27'' tube tv. I will be buying a nice 42'' LCD TV soon. So if anyone can point me to a great headset, I would truly appreciate it. I also tried to look up as much info as I could, but after hours of research, one gets that *dead brain fart* feeling lol.

i just bought a motorola bluetooth one at walmart for $30, works fine

dont get a wired one, it defeats the purpose of PS3
I was thinking about getting a blue tooth, but I need a headset that will transfer audio also, not just chat.
the astro A40's I think are PS3 compatible
There are headsets like Turtle Beaches that should do audio/chat.
I have the official PS3 one. I love it. Only downside is that the thing that goes around your ear, chages form when wearing a few hours. After that, you constantly have to re-fit it. Wait a few hours, and re-fit again... Get's on your nerves. Mine.

I still strongly recommend it though. I'm working on a solution.

Yeah, I got mine with Socom.

But it does not transfer audio, like you want. I haven't heard of any headsets doing that, but there may, but I highly doubt it. I imagine that the PS3 would treat all headsets the same, and send chat to the headset but keep game audio going through the speakers. Your TV or theater system may have an audio jack in it that you can plug a 3.5mm jack into, if you get a headset that has one of those, and then the audio would go through that.

But I could be wrong, the PS3 may be able to put the audio through some headsets. But I do doubt it...

analog -> 3.5 mm jack headphones.
Then have the microphone separate? I'm sure you can find a desk-standing bluetooth microphone.

Wired ones work well for me. Only because of where the tv / monitor is compared to where my ps3 is setup (next to my computer)

As for IF > bluetooth. I have no idea. I know my bluetooth thing for my cell phone sucked.

There is a bluetooth steroe headset like what your talking about. You can connect it through bluetooth straight to your ps3, I have one the audio is pretty good, the microphone may be a little weak though. I broke my cord though and its not a traditional USB cord so I can no longer charge mine sadly. They are kinda expensive though.

These are the ones I have here.

But amazon has some different ones on sale here and here for even cheaper but different style. Nice sales though.
I'm using the Turtle Beach P21 PS3 headset.

A bit pricey but I love them. Chat boost feature is VERY helpful because its annoying to be unable to hear other people because the game volume gets loud. Overall a great headset, helps tremendously in FPS games.
I think I read a few times in here about not having the headset give you the audio? Go into chat options and set your output for voice to your head set device.

I use the Astro A40 with my PS3 but you'll need to get an extra USB dongle attachment that you can find online for cheaper then they have on their website that's called "Music Fairy". It's basically a USB sound module with a 3.5mm mic input and a 3.5mm audio output. It's really good for when you need to play and hear surround sound especially in MW2.
