Realtek GbE Ethernet issue????

OK, so I got home today and started up my computer as always, and found myself in a precarious situation. My internet connection shows that it is active, however, nothing internet related works.

I use the built in connection with my motherboard, the Realtek GbE.

I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it with an older version I happened to keep, that worked awhile ago when it was released back in May 2008.

The driver uninstalled fine from device manager, I restarted my computer, reinstalled the driver and got a message I have never seen before; "Please shutdown & plug realtek PCIE card to complete the installation".

Also, after reinstalling, the driver/device does not show up in Device Manager anymore.

I am not sure what else to do as Windows repair failed to resolve this issue also.

I use Kaspersky AV 2009 and ZoneAlarm for my firewall, and none of them said anything hostile was on my computer. Any advice?

(My specs for my system are up to date as well)

Download the latest drivers for it from the gigabyte website, and install those. That might work, also, Im only recommending this because I often make dumb mistakes like this, but are you sure that your router and everything is all plugged in? Also, reset your router.

I am about to try the newest drivers, but I do know that the router and cable modem work fine as my PS3 connects and plays online fine and I am surfing the web on my roommates laptop getting the driver now. Its not a wireless issue for me, as I plug directly into my router.
