Well i am asking this question for a friend because i couldn't really figure it out based on personal experiences with realtek drivers.

First when she installed windows 7 the realtek onboard sound showed up as high definition audio device in the device manager, this had no errors or markings in the device manager.

But in the control panel sound it would not detect a primary audio device installed on the system.

So i guided her to the link for downloading the realtek audio drivers for windows 7. She downloaded and installed them without any errors, but after restarting the device manager showed the realtek audio device but there was a yellow mark next to it meaning there is an error with the device.

Pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the onboard audio because it was working perfectly fine before she moved from windows xp to windows 7.
