I have a P35 DFI Blood Iron Motherboard, and it OC's like a bat out of hell. I basically have 300$ dollars [my sisters gift, to me for Christmas is buying what I want for 300$]. What should I upgrade?
I Play TF2 a lot and listen to music a lot, but that's it.
One thing I have planed is an upgrade from my 8mb cache HDD, to a Caviar black, the 750gb (cheaper at amazon for tax and shipping reasons). So, that leaves 220$. I kind of want to keep my processor, I mean it's OC'd to 3.2 GHz and serves me well. Also, I'm moving to 64 bit, so I think new RAM is in order. I mean, I'm fine with my 4890, and my sound card. Maybe a new Ram? Or a new mobo/ram combo?
Or, should I just take the remaining 220$, and save up for a new mobo+processor+ram?
Really? I mean, if I stayed with my processor and board, I'd spend 50$ and be left with 180$ to spend on whatever I wanted. I mean, feasibly, i7 would cost at least 200$ [for processor @ Microcenter], 140$ for motherboard and 80$ for the ram, that's 420$.
I would save up and go with an i5 750 or an i7 of either platform. If you don't need HT then I would get an i5 setup.I wouldn't put any more money in what you have now.Hard drive was a good choice imo.
