Ok, well it's time for an upgrade methinks.

I was going to go for the i7 but I will wait till they come down a little but for the meantime my pentium 4 just can't do anything at the moment. It had a good 3 years of suffering with the high powered games I have thrown at it but now it's slowing making it's way to the death bed. So really, I need a new CPU but I need to get rid of my Asus P5W DH Deluxe with it. Why? Because its the worst overclocker motherboard in the entire world! Its a i975X chipset and it really is terrible.

So CPU wise I think I will go for the E8400. But I'm still not sure what I wan't motherboard wise. I was thinking either the EVGA 780i SLI or the XFX 780i or 750i SLI.

I don't really mind on the make that much, I don't want a bright orange circuit board for a motherboard either though. It does require SLI because I plan on getting a GTX 260 now and another later.

Link for a 790iftw pretty cheap I have the 790iftw works great. I have 2 260 gtx they work great. Do not get the superclock edition or u will not be able to not overclock.

He doesn't need a 790i. DDR3 ram will cost more and the 750i will work fine. Also, superclocked cards CAN overclock. Just they have already been factory OCed so usually you can OC a little bit more.

Would the EVGA 750i Northbridge fan get in the way of my CPU cooling fan?

The XFX 750i doesn't have one, is that a good motherboard?

Also British sites only please, thanks.

That board isn't even for sale. Anyways, the eVGA 750i FTW is a modified reference board and performs better.

Agreed. If you eventually plan on going to i7, the EVGA 750i will do you wonders with a e8xxx series proc. Otherwise get the XFX 780i board, they are great and love to OC gpu's

I also support the 750i FTW + E8400 combo.
750i FTW is your best option, i wouldnt settle for anything else if i were you.

Or you can go red with a P5E Deluxe
Well I worked it out and a full i7 system only came out £300 more than a decent socket 775 setup. So I was thinking about going i7 straight away, I then saw the Foxconn Blood Rage, I am now going i7!

Note: If you can't handle looking at a sexy motherboard DO NOT google the Foxconn Blood Rage!
