160$ to spend if you dont want to read the whole thing. Just as the name says I need some directions for decent headphones. I listen to music and watch movies, anime, netflix anything i can find more than play games. I use skype pretty often too so I was trying to find one with a mic too...just added to the difficulty. All the headphones I find for music are either past my budget or pretty crapply made. I have a creative labs sound card so I've been trying to find something to take advantage of that.

Thanks to anyone that helps again.

Do you want open or closed? Is sound leaking in/out going to bother you or be a problem?

What size head do you have? (Matters more than you might think)

What kind of music do you listen to? Do you like bass quantity or quality?

What % of your time is spent gaming vs other things and what type of games do you play?

Lots of questions, but all are important.

I'm not too worried about sound coming in I'm gonna do a bit of sound proofing to my room this summer. Head size I don't know its fairly medium i guess. As for music, alot of old stuff Boston, Queen, Judas Priest....journey....other than that kind of stuff I like orchestral stuff so quality I guess. Most of my time is spent gaming but nothing like cod or some whatever where surround sound is nice always something where I mute it and watch a movie or listen to music.

Audio Technica AD700 is on sale on Amazon right now. Other than that, maybe the Fostex T50RP, Ultrasone HFI-780, AKG K-271 Mk II.

I've not heard any of these. I have the Beyer DT770 and the AKG K240s (for now).

Another option would be the Grado SR80i or SR125i, but test them out beforehand if you can. Some people find them uncomfortable.

I like them quite a bit for what I use them for, which is when I'm at work. They have a nice sound, but still let in enough noise that people can get my attention without me taking them off. Very light, quite comfortable. I've said before that I'm not totally sold on the pleather pads on them, but I've been told the velour pads cut out the bass.

I love the velour pads on the DT770s. I can wear them all day (I could probably wear the AKGs all day too).
