the ability to give rep points to PM
I sometimes get an answer two a thread in a PM instead of in the thread
and would like a way to REP them without finding there name in another thread

Most question/answer situations should occur in the forum in order to benefit others too. Hence, I will not add rep to PM becuase it could encourage things to get answered through that venue as opposed to publicly.
